PUBLIC NOTICE: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
25 September 2020 10:47

Dear all,

Since the beginning of the Lockdown on 23rd March 2020, we at Arun and Chichester Citizens Advice have continued to provide our service consistently, and without interruption, online and via telephone.

Due to COVID-19, we adapted quickly from our usual face-to-face service, to a digital and telephone one, to ensure we could meet the needs of our clients and continue to provide our service to the community.

During this period, the number of people needing our service increased dramatically and we helped many more clients compared to the same period of last year.

The easing of the lockdown restrictions and reduction of infections in July and August allowed us to begin to risk assess our staff, volunteers and premises in view to phase a re-opening of the face-to-face service with the aim of monitoring and testing the current demand for such service.

Following the recent rise in the rate of COVID-19 infection and deaths, we have reviewed and assessed the situation and, as of Thursday 24th September 2020, the board of trustees have decided to suspend the phasing of the face-to-face service and revert to a digital and telephone service only, whilst the rate of infections continues to rise.

We at Arun & Chichester Citizens Advice have a duty to help our community and make it our responsibility to provide advice in a safe and secure environment, whilst safeguarding and minimising risks to clients, volunteers and staff, and, whilst the risk of infection is high, our online and phone ensures minimal risk.

This decision was not made lightly and was announced with heavy heart following months of planning, preparing, implementing new policies, procedures and purchasing equipment for our phased re-opening.

We planned the phased approach so that if there were a second wave/spike, we would be able to quickly, and without any interruption, revert to an online and phone service only.

As we have done for the past 81 years, we will continue to monitor, review, and adapt to the challenges ahead, so we can continue provide the advice people need, and improve policies and practices that affect our everyday lives.

Our website has all the information and everything you may need, to provide you with best possible advice online, anywhere, at any time. If you can’t find what you need, you can speak to an advisor on the web chat service (10am-4pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays).

Alternatively, to speak to an advisor please call our telephone service, Adviceline, on 0344 477 1171 (9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays).

Kind regards,
